The Comedian’s Last Show
“There was a comedian who performed at a comedy club for years, but one night, something changed. He walked onto the stage, microphone in hand, and instead of the usual opening jokes, he said, ‘Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to the last show. You see, I’ve been doing stand-up for so long, I’ve realized that no matter how many jokes I tell, it’s all just a performance. We’re all just waiting for the punchline of our lives, and nobody knows when it’s coming. I’m not afraid of dying. I’m afraid of dying and still not being funny enough to be remembered.’ The audience sat in silence. The comedian smiled, looked at the door, and said, ‘But hey, as long as the crowd laughs, who cares if I’m dead by the end of the night?’ And that was his last show. The next morning, the club manager found his body backstage, still holding the mic.”
