The Talking Brother
Billy and his older brother, David, were walking through the park when David said, “I’ll bet you $5 that you can’t talk without saying the word ‘um’ for five minutes.”
Billy, always up for a challenge, said, “I accept!”
The timer started, and Billy began talking. But after just a minute, he stuttered, “I mean, uh… so, I was just thinking that, um…”
David immediately laughed, “Ah, you lost! I get my $5!”
Billy grinned, “Hold on, David, you didn’t specify that I couldn’t talk without ‘um’—I just can’t think without it. So, technically, I’m still winning!”
David, shaking his head, said, “You’re impossible, Billy!”
Billy replied with a grin, “Thank you for the $5 though. It’s for my thinking fund.”
