The Ghost’s Job Search
A ghost named Gus had been wandering around the haunted mansion where he lived for years. However, the mansion was starting to feel a little too quiet, and Gus thought it might be time for a change. “I need a new career,” Gus decided. “I’m getting bored of just floating around scaring people.”
So, Gus decided to look for a job in the human world. He started applying for different positions: “Spooky Tour Guide,” “Halloween Party Entertainer,” and even “Scare Consultant” for haunted houses.
One day, Gus got a call from a haunted house manager. “Hey, I saw your resume. You’re a ghost, right?”
“That’s right!” Gus replied excitedly.
“Great, you’re hired! We need someone to give guests a spooky experience.”
Gus was thrilled and immediately showed up for his first day. The manager handed him a costume and said, “Alright, here’s your uniform. It’s a full-body skeleton suit. You’ll scare the guests when they walk through the hallway.”
Gus frowned. “Wait a second… I am a ghost. Why would I wear a skeleton suit?”
The manager shrugged. “Well, we have plenty of ghosts around here. You need to really stand out if you want to be terrifying. Plus, skeletons are always in demand around Halloween.”
Gus reluctantly put on the suit and gave it a try. But as soon as he started floating around in the skeleton costume, he realized something: He looked absolutely ridiculous.
“I’m a ghost. Why am I pretending to be something I’m not?” Gus muttered.
The guests at the haunted house were laughing, not scared at all. But Gus just shrugged and decided, “Maybe I’m not cut out for this human world after all.”
He floated back home and returned to scaring people the way he knew best—with a genuine boo and a flicker of his ghostly presence.
