The Pirate’s New Crew Member
Captain Scarlet was recruiting for her ship, and one scrawny young lad named Tommy eagerly stepped forward. “I’ll do anything to join your crew!” he pleaded.
Scarlet eyed him suspiciously. “Can ye climb the rigging?”
“Uh… no.”
“Can ye swab the deck?”
“Not really.”
“Can ye handle a sword?”
“Never held one.”
Scarlet sighed. “Then what good are ye?”
Tommy grinned nervously and pulled out a harmonica. “But I can play sea shanties!”
Scarlet rolled her eyes. “Fine, but if ye mess up one note, I’ll toss ye to the sharks!”
To everyone’s surprise, Tommy’s shanties became the highlight of the ship. Even during storms, his tunes lifted everyone’s spirits. The crew started calling him Tommy the Tune, and Scarlet begrudgingly admitted, “Maybe music’s as valuable as treasure after all… but don’t tell him I said that.”
